Thank you Dottie Arias

Having faithfully served our American Martyrs Catholic Community for many years, Dottie Arias is retiring at the end of this month. Dottie and her husband, Dave, will relocate to Nebraska where she will be close to her son, daughter-in-law and her 14 beautiful grandchildren.

Dottie and Dave became parishioners in 1978, and knowing they wanted their children to attend American Martyrs School, Dottie (at the advice of Sr. Mary Irene) immediately began volunteering. Her first year she worked the “Big Wheel” booth at the Parish Fair and joined the Altar Society where her first duties were to wash and iron the altar linens, and was put in charge of polishing the pelican on the front of the altar: “Everything we did was centered around the church and it still is.”

In 1992, Monsignor Barry hired Dottie as the Parish Secretary, and she has served in that role with patience and grace for 30 years. Asked about her years of service for the parish, Dottie says “I always enjoyed it. American Martyrs is our home away from home and I’m going to miss it. We will miss all of the friends we have made, but we are looking forward to being closer to our children and grandchildren.”

Dottie has brought many blessings to our parish community. We thank Dottie for her many years of dedicated service, and wish her and her family continued happiness and blessings in the future.
