Mothers Outreach Ministry
The Mother’s Outreach Ministry (M.O.M.), founded in 1997, is a group of women and their children whose focus is on serving those in need in our parish, in our sister parish of St. Lawrence of Brindisi, and in our local community. M.O.M. is a supportive network that provides friendship and spiritual growth through involvement in outreach projects. The majority of our outreach projects include our children so as to foster a sense of giving to and caring for God’s people.
- Parish Outreach:, speaking at baptism classes about parish resources for new parents, serving donuts after Sunday morning Masses, helping with parish food drives, preparing dinners for parish families in need, participating in the Social Justice & Outreach Commission.
- Outreach at St. Lawrence of Brindisi: Organizing annual baby goods drive, preparing lunches monthly for distribution for the St. Lawrence lunch counter, assisting the ESL students in their classes, hosting St. Lawrence ESL students and their children for a Thanksgiving event, raising scholarship money for a St. Lawrence graduate to attend a Catholic High School by sponsoring a child's art fundraiser.
- Senior Outreach: Serving parish seniors at the Anointing of the Sick Masses and luncheons, visiting local senior residences during holidays, and building a bridge between the children and seniors of our parish with our Grandbuddies program through story reading sessions and group Mass attendance.
- Community Outreach: Working with Matthew 25 events such as Family to Family, Heal the Bay, and "Day of Volunteering." Collecting and donating items for Good Shepherd Shelter.
In addition, we organize support and social activities for our members such as meal preparation and delivery when new babies are born within the group, gathering at Friday Lenten Soup dinners, attending the Friends of St. Lawrence dinner fundraisers and occasional park play dates with our children.
Enjoy the fellowship and share your time and talent, as you are able. There is no mandatory time commitment upon joining the group.
M.O.M. meets on the first Thursday of each month (except July and August) at 9:30 am.
The meetings consist of planning our outreach projects and discussing upcoming Scripture readings. Children are always welcome.
