Parish Steward: Beth Henning

Beth is from Toledo, Ohio and obtained a degree from the University of Toledo in Computer Systems.  She met her husband Gary during college on a blind date.  Gary had already been working for FedEx in our area for a year when they were married in 1988.  Beth landed a job with Toyota that same year and is still working for them, as is Gary for FedEx.

They were both members of the Lutheran Church when they were able to enroll their oldest child Alyssa in kindergarten at American Martyrs School.   Two years later Gary and Beth completed the RCIA Program to become Catholic.

She has served as a member for two years on both the parish Public Relations Committee and the American Martyrs Parents Association Board.  Beth is annually involved in many different activities for American Martyrs School, including the “Friend Together” which would get the children for AMS together with our sister Parish, St. Lawrence Brindisi.  Recently, Beth facilitated Staff Enrichment sessions for the Parish Staff and joined the Stewardship Commission, but is most excited about bringing the Living Your Strengths training to our Parish Community.  “This is an opportunity for us to understand ourselves better and to utilize our strengths in combination with others in our many Parish ministries.  The first sessions were a huge success and they will only get better.”

In her early years at Toyota she was in marketing research until 1997 when she became the National Advertising Manager for Toyota Cars.  Her current title is National Manager, University of Toyota, Learning Technologies.

Because neither Beth nor Gary has any extended family on the West Coast, they feel they have found one in American Martyrs Parish.  Furthermore, Beth is so thankful for the life she has.  “I was raised by great parents, have a loving husband, three great children (Alyssa 18, Austin 16 and Aarin 14), a beautiful place to live, great friends, a wonderful job and an outstanding Parish community.  What more could anyone ask for?”
