Spirituality Center

American Martyrs parishioners do not need to travel far to find a quiet place to be with God.
We have a Spirituality Center, formerly known as “The Convent” at 770 17th Street, just a couple blocks from our church.

A lovely meditation garden complete with a stone labyrinth, a chapel, a gathering room, and sleeping quarters are available for individual and group gatherings of people seeking to find God in the stillness apart from their chaotic schedules.

To many, walking the labyrinth may be a new experience. Yet, this meditative practice, originating in Europe centuries ago, is a profound way of engaging our body in prayer.  Psalm 16:11 assures us, “You will show me the path of life, fullness of joys in your presence.”  As one walks along the simple, stone path, the cares of the world  become muffled.   Our mind becomes empty as our soul is filled with God’s calmness.  We are surrounded with plants, flowers, and a trickling fountain.  All of nature gives praise to God in a beautiful garden.  From the Garden of Eden in Genesis to the Garden of Gethsemani in Matthew, we know that God speaks to us at decision-making junctures of life.

For those who have never walked a labyrinth or been on a retreat, we welcome you to visit our Spirituality Center.  God is waiting to join you on the garden path.
